Haven Village Annual Planting Day

Spring is Here! Join us for our first Annual Planting Day, Saturday April 11th at Haven Village. A unique opportunity to get your hands in the dirt and visit Haven Village!

Come help us plant this years field with corn, potatoes and beans as well as our Mittleider Garden with special guest, Sycamore offering an Introduction to Permaculture.

Rooted in close observation and practical design, this workshop will explore how climate, geography, water flow, and the "keyline scale of permanence" can help us understand the Haven Village model for food resilience. Themes may include swales and water management, nursery basics, plant propagation, useful and medicinal plants, and the multi-layered thinking behind orchards and food forest systems.

Sycamore is a permaculture designer, land steward, chef, and educator originally from Appalachia, where earned his degree in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Kentucky. For the past 15 years, he has worked in the worlds of organic farming, agroforestry, and regenerative land stewardship, supporting the design and cultivation of resilient landscapes rooted in ecological intelligence and care for place.
